Hi, it’s Daniel. I have worked at CNC Marine for just over 15 months now as a junior designer, quite eager to grow my skills & knowledge in the industry. My exposure to welding and physical boat construction was quite limited before attending the Pure Plate Course. The four-day workshop was not only personally rewarding but also immensely beneficial for expanding my industry knowledge and refining my design process to better serve both end users and builders. Throughout the course, I acquired basic welding skills and became proficient in simple welding techniques. However, the course also showed incredible value amongst critical fabrication skills, knowledge & “time behind the hood” which is required to achieve high-quality results, skills that the seasoned professionals in the workshop had honed over the years. The course certainly benefited myself & others into gaining the knowledge & skills for tackling your own “kit”. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone interested in entering the boat building industry, whether for personal projects or starting a business, as it caters to a wide range of skill levels and enhances one’s understanding of boat construction. The camaraderie among participants was exceptional, with everyone eager to learn and support each other. The instructors struck a perfect balance between providing guidance and fostering a light-hearted atmosphere. This experience has undoubtedly propelled my growth as a designer, and I am committed to incorporating the knowledge and techniques I’ve gained into my designs to deliver superior vessels.
