If you are looking for an engaging project to complete with your class, you’ve come to the right place. At CNC Marine, we support learning and development by providing exciting boat building projects for schools with flexible options.
Schools can choose from our cutting files/DXF or pre cut aluminium boat kits, allowing them to tailor the project to their facilities and specific requirements. Additionally, we offer discounted prices to schools, ensuring that educational budgets aren’t stretched. Our intention is to make it possible for children to gain valuable, hands-on experiences learning on how to build a boat.
What is included:
- We offer either cutting files/DXF or pre cut aluminium boat kits, depending on preferences.
- Renesting and modifications as required.
- Detailed boat building drawings and calculations to guide the process of building a boat from scratch.

- HIN (Hull Identification Number) and ABP (Australia Builder Plates) for compliance with regulations.
- Our designers are available to visit schools for in-person discussions and Q&A sessions, offering valuable insights and guidance throughout the project.
- Access to wholesale prices.
- We offer services such as surveying the vessel for compliance.
Learning opportunities:
- Hands-On Experience: Students gain practical experience in learning how to build a boat, use tools, read boat design plans, and assemble components.
- Students can learn how fabrication and welding works, learning the basics and opportunities to practice welds.
- STEM Learning: Constructing a CNC Marine kit involves principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), providing a holistic learning experience.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Students encounter real-world challenges during the construction process of building a boat, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they find solutions.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: There is plenty to do for everyone when constructing a boat, from following detailed boat building plans and drawings, cutting pieces out of plate, polishing edges, welding, and cleaning up scrap. This provides opportunities for teamwork and collaboration, teaching students how to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and work together towards a common goal.
The schools that we have already worked with are using the boats they have fabricated for a number of uses including marine science and biology classes, to aid in water sports, and some of the kit boats have been part of charity raffles.
